GRADUATION THESIS DIRECTIVE

 

FIRST PART
Purpose, Scope, Basis and Definitions

Goal
Article 1-
The purpose of this directive is to determine the issues related to the distribution, preparation, delivery, examination and evaluation of the subjects of the graduation thesis that the students should make within the scope of the undergraduate education of the Faculty of Engineering of Yalova University.

Article 2-
This directive covers the students of Yalova University Engineering Faculty.

Definitions

Article 4- In this directive;

SECOND PART
Determination of the Advisor and the Subject of the Thesis

Article 5- At the beginning of each academic year, the number of students who will register to the graduate thesis course is determined by the department; By dividing this number with the number of advisors, the maximum number of students to be admitted to each advisor's thesis is found and announced to the advisors.
Article 6- Graduation thesis work areas are determined by the advisor in accordance with the departmental education objectives and are notified to the department in writing from the semester of the graduation thesis until the 11th week of the previous semester.
Article 7- The graduation thesis work areas of each consultant are listed by the Department in the 12th - 14th week of the previous semester from which the finalization thesis will be made.
Article 8- The consultancy form signed by the student and the advisor must be submitted by the student until the last day of the 14th week of the previous semester, in which they will be entitled to enroll in the thesis course.
Article 9- Students who do not submit the consultancy form from the students who have the right to register for the graduation thesis course, are filled in by the department. The consultancy form prepared in this way is signed by the student and the advisor within one week and delivered to the department.
Article 10- The determination and distribution of graduation thesis topics are approved by the departments (BTF01).
Article 11- The names of the students whom each consultant undertakes the thesis advisor by the Department and the study subjects of these students are announced in the first week of the semester in which the thesis will be made.

THIRD PART
Preparation and Delivery of the Thesis

Article 12- Graduation thesis is prepared according to the 'Faculty of Engineering Graduation Thesis Preparation Guide' to be determined by the Faculty Board. The advisor checks whether the graduation thesis prepared by the student complies with this guide.
Article 13- Graduation theses are delivered to the relevant department in 4 copies on the first day of the exam period after the completion of the semester at the latest.
Article 14- Students cannot write to the thesis course in summer education (summer school). A student can enroll in the Fall and Spring Semester Graduation Thesis course and prepare a thesis in accordance with the legislation and credit conditions related to graduation. In this case, Graduation Thesis courses are processed with the Board of Directors within 15 days from the beginning of the semester.

SECTION FOUR
Graduation Thesis Exam and Evaluation

Article 15- The completed thesis is examined by the supervisor within the first week of the final exam period and whether the student can take the exam is announced by the department within the same week. If the thesis is not delivered within the period, the student is considered unsuccessful and FF grade is given. The student is enrolled in the thesis lesson in the next semester.
Article 16- Graduation thesis exam is held orally by the exam commission, consisting of at least three faculty members or staff, one of whom is selected by the department committee. The distribution of the thesis to the jury members is done by the relevant department.
Article 17- The degree of success of the student who passes the thesis examination is determined by taking into consideration the success of the thesis and the examination prepared.
Article 18- Students whose graduation thesis is considered insufficient repeat the graduation thesis lesson. Those who fail the graduation thesis exam although the subject of the Graduation Thesis is accepted will take the make-up exam (BTF04). Thesis and presentation evaluation percentages are determined by the department.
Article 19- Graduation thesis exam is held on the days determined by the department during the final exam period. Lecturers and students can attend the exams as listeners. In the final thesis exams, oral presentations are made using visual and audio presentation techniques.
Article 20 - Graduation thesis exam grade is given over 100 points by evaluating the criteria determined by the jury members for the final thesis exam. The student's score is converted to letter grade by making an absolute evaluation and the result is reported to the department by the exam commission within 3 (three) days following the exam.

CHAPTER FIVE
Other Provisions

Article 21- Upon the request of the counselor, group graduation work can be done with the decision of the Department Board.
Article 22- In cases where there is no provision, the relevant department has the authority to make decisions.

CHAPTER SIX
Enforcement and Execution

Force
Article 23- This Graduation Thesis directive comes into force from the date of its acceptance by the Senate upon the proposal of the Faculty Board.

Executive
Article 24- The provisions of this directive are executed by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
